Founded in 1719, the Smithfield Friends Meeting is the oldest continuously running religious organization in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. Its current wood-frame, clapboard meetinghouse with Greek Revival features was completed in 1881, replacing the original structure that was destroyed by fire. Within the two-story principal meeting room, a late nineteenth century brass chandelier hangs from the ceiling. Simple and elegant in design, the lectern and straight-backed pews are painted white with stained trim. In 1982, the Smithfield Friends Meetinghouse, Parsonage & Cemetery were included in the National Register of Historic Places.
